Check Your Acupuncture Benefits
Out of Network Coverage, HSA/FSA Cards

Open Enrollment Time:
Open enrollment has started, so check with your HR department or insurance broker to ensure you're taking advantage of all your insurance benefits, which may include acupuncture coverage.
Did you know that you can use your Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA) or Health Savings Accounts (HSA), and San Francisco Medical Reimbursement Account (SFMRA) for acupuncture?
During open enrollment, you can sign up for these benefits and decide how much pre-tax money you want to set aside.
Out-of-Network Acupuncture Coverage:
Do you have a PPO (Preferred Provider Organization)?
You may have out-of-network coverage acupuncture benefits. If you do, I can provide a Superbill after your session for you to submit. Depending on your benefits you may get reimbursed for part or all of your session.
If you're interested in seeing if your health plan covers out-of-network acupuncture services, here's a quick guide to help you check:
Contact your insurance provider – Call the member services number on the back of your insurance card or log into your insurance portal.
Ask specifically about acupuncture coverage – Be sure to inquire if out-of-network acupuncture services are covered under your plan, and if so, what the reimbursement rate is or what portion of the cost will be covered.
Check for requirements – Some plans may require pre-authorization or a referral from your primary care physician for out-of-network acupuncture services to be covered.
Review your out-of-network deductible – You’ll also want to check how much of your deductible must be met before your out-of-network benefits kick in.
